This song came about in many phases, starting with the initial idea in the phased drum loop & the chimes you hear in the beginning. I was working with another song that featured the Kevin Shields decimated soundwave guitar he is known for in My Bloody Valentine & brought that into this mix. The Dub elements came later. The proof of concept here was to exemplify the parallels of Shoegaze & Dub. However, I did not account for the challenge it would be to make these elements work together in a mix. The guitar wants to be front & center. It’s a broad spectrum waveform taking up the entire spectrum of sound if you let it. Dub wants to be heavy & drums up front. I felt more like a snake wrangler then a mixer trying to make these two genres play nice.
